Compensatory Schemes
Compensatory Schemes encompass various different solutions to prevent flooding by means of engineering the environment around the site to be protected.
Flood Guard Systems Ltd have a good level of experience in installing compensatory schemes as part of the flood mitigation measures offered. For instance if you have large areas of impermeable hard surfacing that will cause rain to pool and move about your site, you may be able to mitigate the worst effects of the "Surface water runoff" by diverting it into purpose made basins or ponds. The water is then stored in an area that won’t affect the rest of the site, it can then be used in a number of ways. To irrigate the surrounding landscaping during times of lean rainfall. It could be used via other systems to augment water used for flushing toilets or other applications that don’t require "clean" water to operate.
Compensatory schemes could include: The use of water butts, Specifying Green Roofs for new builds and existing developments, the use of filter strips or swales.
FGSL are fully conversant with all of the techniques and our team are able to undertake the analysis of existing sites to determine what scheme could be used to best advantage, we are then able to design and build a tailor-made compensation scheme to benefit your specific site.
